I love the vulnerability, art needs more of this- not just shallow works.

I have never done this, but I use myself as a motif in my work to fuse myself with the themes. People seem to have a negative opinion of self depictions, but in my opinion it is the only way to get as close to your craft as possible.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for commenting. I think this deep exploration with my self depictions have been very cathartic. But you’re right, I keep getting the sense that I ‘should’ diversify a bit more in that respect. But at the end of the day, I like to paint what I like to paint.

You should continue that dialogue with yourself regardless of whether you feel that it is 'right' or not. It's important stuff, and is visually engaging!

I feel inspired to go harder with my personal depictions of myself as a result of your work- keep at it!

Thank you, I know you’re right, as it drives me.

I don’t like doing art just to please anyone else.

That’s good to hear, I look forward to see what you create!

Will share my piece once it's done, started it yesterday! And I'm glad to hear you say that, after all art is first and foremost a personal outlet!

I'd love to see the luscious, viscous red painting. So beautifully described on the heels of your powerful reframing of early childhood and body trauma. I love your Blue Man, like Picasso's only Yours.
