New here? What’s this Weekly Art Practice all about?
Well, let me tell you… Every Saturday, I share my art practice over the past 7 days. I'm fascinated by artistic practice – it's not just about creating art but the entire process. From influences and ideas to materials and skills, each artist's unique approach shapes their work, making it more than a finished piece. Just imagine having a weekly update from your favourite living artist. How cool would that be?
If this masterpiece is too long for email, you can read it here in Substack. Or download the app.
Insight of the week 💡
I had a big insight this week, with the support of
. I had the realisation that as my mum used to do a lot of talking for me, I’ve carried this into adulthood in terms of not being assertive, not expressing what I need, not speaking up or standing up for myself. There was never any malice in my mum’s actions, she was trying to help meI sold my soul for £2.20 minus eBay fees, continued…
The buyer of my soul received the art print and was enthralled. I want to share The lesson I learned from this experience with you…
Use the same creativity you use to create your art, to sell your art.
Please read the above again.
I didn’t earn anything from this but created a joyful experience that cost me £3 in postage. The ideal scenario, the sweet spot, is to earn money and delight my collectors/customers.
He even added his own frame and label. I love it—collaborative art from the artist and buyer.
His note was priceless!
If you want to own this piece of Memento Mori Art (soul not included) you can purchase it here.
I’ve Souled by Soul for the second time as well! I’ll update you next week :-)

Get your art on Upsplash so other writers can use your art through Substack in their posts
Thanks to
and for bringing this to my awareness. I had no idea, as an artist, you can submit your art to Upsplash, as you may know, Substack uses this platform for Stock images that can be used in posts.I just added my first one, the search functionality isn’t great, but it’s there for anyone to use! (I’m having trouble finding it in Substack, any ideas
?)This is one way of getting your art out there. Another idea that Mr Dodson shared was this…
Memento vivere at the Crypt Gallery progress report (Inc DYCP Grant)
This week: I’ve pulled my finger out of my ass and did a load on my DYCP proposal (Developing Your Creative Practice). The deadline is coming on 14th December.
I’ve added more art to Etsy for you to purchase and enjoy
Support a living artist. Buy affordable SLART Art from my Etsy store.
That’s all for now.
Do the thing and you will have the power.
Best wishes and deep blessings,
SLART.
Oh, remember to read my last post below if you missed it.
Do the thing and you will have the power.
I love you and your sweet doggie. SLART, I am starting to work with this: "Use the same creativity you use to create your art, to sell your art." Sold your soul _twice_ now! It's a very valuable soul. I love the first buyer's caption though I know the collection date is later than that. The thing about your finger in your ass and doing a load on your DYCP is, um, evocative to say the least--and I'm thrilled! (Does "dropping a load" mean in the UK what it means in the US???) PS: I use Unsplash a lot; their search function is hard to work with and I LOVE the image you put up there, very generous!
That ad selling your own soul is hilarious.....I did not know just anyone could buy souls....And through the mail. Though I guess technically maybe it's a print.
Artists gotta make a living !
I thought you were going to tell a story about doing dreadful work ...
I wonder what I could get......?
By the way....I finally ready to sell out ....any offers.
