DREI FRAGEN with The Creative Visionary
Artist The Creative Visionary shares their artistic wisdom.
Each Wednesday, I ask a different artist the same three questions.
This week's featured artist,
; Who caught my attention with her bio: “I am the most impactful person of our generation. Contemporary Abstract Artist + Poet + Philosopher + Rooted in ATX”. Need I say more? We need more artists who believe in themselves to lift the rest of us up!1. What first sparked your interest in creating art?
Honestly, growing up, I didn’t know that I had the ability to create in the capacity that I do now, so I never really understood my power when it came to art. However, society and my frustrations of not being able to express myself emotionally is what sparked my interest in creating art.
My life hasn’t always been easy so once I decided to heal I started to create.
2. What are your regrets?
No regrets at all. I believe if things happened differently I wouldn’t be the Artist I am now. Anything that could be considered a regret is something I can change in my journey now. I didn’t go to art school and sometimes I beat myself up about but then come back to reality and realize all the resources available to me now.
3. What wisdom would you offer to someone just starting out in their art career, or to anyone exploring art for the first time at any stage of life?
In the wise words of Sampha…. “Don’t think about it too much”. Art is a lifestyle that is a reflection of self in society. Find what makes you feel happy in art! There’s so much opportunities out there for artist of any level to explore and create in the world of art. With that being said, decide if you’re doing art as a hobby or profession in order to truly express yourself. Both have limitations and don’t be naive to the fact that art takes mental, physical and emotional work regardless of the approach. Be authentic but also explore new traits!
The canvas you use is based on the love and experience you have in life. You do not have to put yourself into a creative box to prove your worth. Artists are more than a linear force, we are the bridges to new possibilities.
