26 Days Until Memento Vivere: The Push to Make It Reality
Press run and the final three weeks | Projekt Rattloch — Week 7 🐀🕳️
» 26 days until Memento vivere «
Last week’s post veered into rant territory. If you’ve been reading me for a while, you’ll know I do that now and then—usually when I’ve had enough of the status quo. Lately, though, I’ve stripped away a lot of distractions, so there’s nothing tugging at me. My mind no longer bolts off like a dog chasing a squirrel the moment it’s off the lead.
This week’s a short one… I’m quietly but determinedly doing all I can to promote.
I’m getting ahead of things now to make sure that the final weeks before the opening is calm, not chaotic.
I have to give a big shout-out to my friend Lee, one of my oldest mates, who’s been handing out flyers to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. He’s a natural people person and genuinely believes in me, which makes him the perfect promoter for my work. I’m so grateful for that.
Just to give you an idea: last weekend, he was in Gloucester for a few beers, struck up conversations with strangers, and somehow ended up championing my art. I’ll admit, it feels a little embarrassing to write about, not because of what he was doing but because of the way he was bigging me up (I feel bashful about it). I sent him 500 flyers, and he’s already given out almost all of them. As I mentioned last week, one even made its way into the hands of THE Nigel Havers.
I’ve been asking myself, “What else?” and there are little boring things like toilet signs and signs to encourage social media sharing.
Not to mention the labels for the artwork, something I nearly forgot…
Sticky dots, too.
I can’t remember if I said this last week, but I assumed that I could set up the day before, on the 5th, but it turns out, I couldn’t, and I now have to make 2 trips to London, one to get the keys on the 5th and then come back at 9am on the opening day to set up. You can only learn from these things. In future, I’ll make the time-space and headspace to write it all down.
So…
Art Catalogue, done. ✅
Send to print - To Do.
Opening night wine, ordered. ✅
Volunteer staffing, sorted. ✅
Art Labels, printed. ✅
Hey, can I ask a quick favour?
I’m doing everything I can to get the word out about my upcoming solo exhibition — and I’d love your help.
Could you do one (or both) of these?

Every little boost makes a big difference, and it’s way more fun when friends are part of the journey. Let’s make some noise together!
Best wishes,
P.S. Give me your promo ideas in the comments too!

Kapil Gupta on conditioning…
“One’s environment shapes the structure of the mind.
The mind shapes the structure of the human.
In essence, the world creates the mind.
The mind creates the human.
It is for this reason that all attempts at “self-improvement” are doomed to fail.
And all attempts at “behavior modification” are a non-starter.
For the human does not shape himself.
He is been shaped by the mind.
And the mind that is subject to treatments, therapies, and prescriptions violently rejects them.
The man who understands this will titrate his environment.
He will treat the air around him as if he were attempting to quarantine himself from an Ebola outbreak.
For he will have come to understand that the “societal virus” is one hundred times more potent.”
